There's an unrivaled beauty to the Pacific Northwest, regardless of the season. Last
October my husband and I found ourselves in the quaint little town of Gig Harbor, just a
hop, skip, and a jump from Tacoma. The locals suggested a certain scenic drive, which
took us along winding roads, in and out of wooded areas, with glimpses of Puget Sound
around every other bend. A short ferry ride landed us on Vashon Island, where we
explored its charming main street, full of cozy coffee shops and old-fashioned
storefronts. The lighthouse in the photo sat on the eastern tip of the island and offered
so many great photo opportunities. I was really struck by the contrast of the weathered
logs against the starkness of the structure itself. I pulled together a pair of earrings
reflecting the blues and grays in the photo, with white and rusty accents that are shown
in the lighthouse.
