I've always loved wearing post earrings, but I never thought I'd be able to make my own without a torch. These super-simple wire wrapped post earrings use gemstone beads and are quick and easy to make. Coiling a little wire "nest" for each bead gives the look of casual elegance that make them easy to wear, too. Don't use beads larger than 8mm rounds for these earrings, or else they'll be too heavy to wear and might tug a bit uncomfortably on someone's earlobes.

Instructions
Step 1
Cut the 12 inches of wire into 2 pieces, 6 inches each. Using the flat nose pliers, make a bend in the wire about ½" inch from the end.

Step 2
Grasp the wire in the round nose or combination pliers so that the bend points down. Wrap the working end of the wire around the tiny tip of the round nose pliers to start making a spiral.
Spiral the wire around for 3-5 repetitions, depending on how big your bead is. This will be the base that holds the bead.

Step 3
When the spiral is big enough to form a "cap" for the bead, slide your bead down the wire and pull gently to spread the spiral into a tiny nest for the bead. Continue to wrap the wire around the bead, using your fingers to make an elegant messy pattern.

Step 4
When you run out of wire, use the flat nose pliers or chain nose pliers to tuck in the wire end and smash it flat.

Step 5
Trim the tip of the earring post with the flat side of the flush cutters. File the tip of the earring post smooth using the sandpaper or the metal file. Add a rubber stopper or butterfly post back.
