Question:

Dale, I have your prong ring DVD. Your procedure for measuring the depth of the culet was shown on the DVD. You came up with 5mm and added 10mm. I have viewed the video over and over, and I am lost on getting 5mm. The gem has a slope just below the girdle then onto the pavilion. Are you looking through the ruler to see the culet? Please let me know as I want to get proficient at wirewrap rings.

Junius, to make this as easy as possible, let's visualize. When measuring the depth of the culet, if the stone were to sit on its point on a workbench, you measure from the workbench straight up through the air, to the bottom edge of the girdle. The length of the pavilion is not the same as the depth; it is longer. Hope this helps!
